Week 7 Vocabulary Words

1. blandishment - something that tends to coax or cajole
2. bombast -pretentious inflated speech or writing
3. breach -infraction or violation of a law, obligation, tie, or standard
4. burgeon -to send forth new growth (as buds or branches)
5. buttress - a projecting structure of masonry or wood for supporting or giving stability to a wall or building
6. cadge -beg, sponge
7. caprice -a sudden, impulsive, and seemingly unmotivated notion or action
8. castigate -to subject to severe punishment, reproof, or criticism
9. catalyst -an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action
10. chicanery -deception by artful subterfuge or sophistry
11. complaisant -marked by an inclination to please or oblige

Vocabulary Week 5

1. aberrant - straying from the right or normal way
2. abscond - to depart secretly and hide oneself
3. aggrandize - to make great or greater
4. amalgamate - to unite in or as if in an amalgam
5. ambiguous -capable of being understood in two or more possible senses or ways
6. ambrosial -something extremely pleasing to taste or smell
7. anomalous - inconsistent with or deviating from what is usual, normal, or expected
8. antipathy -settled aversion or dislike
9. arbitrate - decide, determine
10. assuage - to lessen the intensity of (something that pains or distresses)

Vocabulary Week 11


1. Loquacious - full of excessive talk

It's not easy to demonstrate talking but I used this picture to show talking and all that can conspspire through alot of emotion.















2. Metamorphose - to change into a different physical form especially by supernatural means

I chose this pick to show metamorphosis and ever changing. Supernatural? As closest as I could come, this was it.
















3. Sis - usually used in direct address
Definition of sister so I used a picture that could be a girl, a guy's sister.














4. nihilism - a viewpoint that traditional values and beliefs are unfounded and that existence is senseless and useless

5. Obsequious - marked by or exhibiting a fawning attentiveness

6. Oligarchy - a government in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes

7. Quotation - a passage referred to, repeated, or adduced

8. Reparation - the act of making amends, offering expiation, or giving satisfaction for a wrong or injury

9. Tempestuous - of, relating to, or resembling a tempest

10. Tautology - needless repetition of an idea, statement, or word

11. Supercilious - coolly and patronizingly haughty

12. Fatuous - complacently or inanely foolish

13. Apathy - lack of feeling or emotion

1. Flourish - to grow luxuriantly

I chose this picture of a Black Cayman Edition 1 to show how as you gain money, you can grow to be quite wealthy and get the luxurious things in life.


2. Guerilla - a person who engages in irregular warfare especially as a member of an independent unit carrying out harassment and sabotage

This picture is of a person called guerilla because this is an indipendant kids given guns used for warfare.











3. Renegade -
a deserter from one faith, cause, or allegiance to another 2 : an individual who rejects lawful or conventional behavior

While renagede is a rebel, I could not just find a picture of a renagader, so this picture of a renagader from World of Warcraft is closest of the way a renagade person is supposed to be.

6. Symbosis - a cooperative relationship (as between two persons or groups) symbiosis…between the resident population and the immigrants

7. Tariff`- a schedule of duties imposed by a government on imported or in some countries exported goods b: a duty or rate of duty imposed in such a schedule

8. Tempo - rate of motion or activity

9. Tranquility - the quality or state of being tranquil

10. Tumult - violent agitation of mind or feelings

11. Tundra - level or rolling treeless plain that is characteristic of arctic and subarctic regions, consists of black mucky soil with a permanently frozen subsoil, and has a dominant vegetation of mosses, lichens, herbs, and dwarf shrubs

12. Unanimous - being of one mind
